The Bar of Appleton Athletics came through the loser’s
bracket to win consecutive championship games against
perennial power Wilber Lime and post their first ever
championship in the 33rd annual Aquafest Men’s Fastpitch
Invitational. The scores were 8-4 and 12-4. The same two
teams met in the winner’s bracket final with six time
tournament champion Wilber winning that one, 6-2.
The Appleton team began tournament play with a 6-4 victory
over Dugout Bar and Grill of Cushing and followed that with
an 8-7 squeaker against the La Crosse Athletics before
falling to Wilber in the winner’s final. The Bar bounced
back with a 5-2 triumph over third place finisher Sawdust
City of Eau Claire to become eligible for the championship
effort.
